A partnership with the Economic and Social Research Council to invest £800,000 into ground-breaking research on the skills and knowledge needed to make better places.
We commissioned academic researchers from 11 UK universities to explore new ways of working in areas such as planning, the built environment, community cohesion and environmental improvement. We hope communities and professionals will benefit – by encouraging the spread of new ideas about how to improve the places where people live, work and enjoy their leisure time.
Researchers based at UK higher education research institutions and other research institutions were eligible for one-year research grants of between £15,000 and £100,000. In total £800,000 was available.
