Addressing climate change through sustainability appraisal of plans

Sustainability appraisal (SA), which incorporates the requirements of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Directive is pivotal in ensuring that RSS and LDD help to deliver the key planning objectives in the Climate Change PPS. SA should inform the planning strategy development process and influence land allocations so as to ensure these accord with the key planning objectives.
