We've launched our annual student award scheme to find bright ideas for better places for the third year.
Future Vision 09 encourages students to ‘see things differently’ and submit ideas that could improve communities across the country.
The scheme is targeted at UK undergraduates and postgraduates undertaking courses in, for example:
regeneration;
planning;
housing;
architecture;
landscape architecture;
design; and
geography.
The award categories for Future Vision 09 are:
Buildings – transform the way we design and build
Open spaces – make better use of space in towns, cities and villages
Play time – bring local communities closer together
Work life – improve local economies
Green thinking – create environmentally-friendly solutions for everyday living.
The winners will be announced at the ASC’s annual awards ceremony at the Roundhouse in London on 4th June 2009 and will each receive £1,000 and a work placement.
Kate Frankova, ‘Future Streets’ winner, 2008 said:
“Taking part in the Future Vision award scheme opened my eyes to possible career paths that I had not even thought about before. Winning the award also gave me encouragement that my ideas might actually be marketable and have a future.”
Gill Taylor, ASC Chief Executive, said:
“Each year it’s always heartening to see so many young people that are passionate about their own communities and keen to carve out a career that can help make a real difference to people’s lives. As a sector, we need to garner this enthusiasm and capture the interest of students studying a range of different disciplines so that we create a strong multi-talented workforce.”
