ASC has become the ninth member of a partnership driving the inclusion of culture and sport in communities.
Living Places, an alliance of cultural bodies and government departments which launched in November 2007, announced ASC's membership at the LGA Sustainable Communities conference in Liverpool.
ASC Chief Executive Gill Taylor said:
"We are delighted to be involved with Living Places and look forward to working with other organisations to ensure culture plays a fundamental role in creating great places and developing a strong sense of community spirit. The LGA conference in Liverpool, the European Capital of Culture 2008, provided the ideal opportunity to announce our commitment to promoting the benefits of bringing culture and sport into every community."

Welcoming ASC to Living Places, Roy Clare, Chief Executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council said:
"Living Places is about helping to create thriving, vibrant communities through culture and sport. As a key champion of sustainable communities, ASC is a particularly welcome addition to the partnership."
Living Places is show-casing ten regional examples of best practice at the LGA Sustainable Communities conference. These range from a Kendal Brewery transformed into a cultural centre, which plays host to international music festivals and 300,000 visitors a year, to the new Olympic-sized swimming pool in Liverpool which will offer state-of-the-art facilities to everyone from champion swimmers in training to local mothers and toddlers groups.
A joint plenary with the LGA Culture, Tourism and Sport conference on the 13th March will see Gill Taylor and Alan Davey, Chief Executive, Arts Council England, take part in a panel discussion on how communities and local service providers can join forces to deliver better outcomes for neighbourhoods.
