Mixed use development workshop

15 July 2009

We held a one-day workshop on the future of mixed use development in the current economic climate.

We've summaried the discussions in the practice paper which you can download (please be patient, it's a large file)

The paper includes copies of the presentations by the keynote speakers and a selection of case studies from HCA teams in Yorkshire & Humberside and London. The workshop, chaired by Gill Taylor, HCA Academy Chief Executive, involved delegates from the public and private sectors, as well as academics, policy makers and HCA staff. The proceedings were conducted under Chatham House Rules.

The event considered:

  • The state of the housing and regeneration market and what has changed
  • The impact on mixed use development and the conventional business model
  • New policy thinking
  • New delivery models and how they might be implemented
  • The role of the public sector and HCA

The comments, observations and opinions expressed at the event and summarised below are non-attributable and do not constitute statements of HCA policy.
