Established in areas experiencing low demand for housing. Each of the nine pathfinders has drawn up strategic plans for turning round their areas over a 10-15 year period. Pathfinders bring together local authorities and key agencies to re-examine the problems being experienced in the area and decide on the most appropriate action to reconnect them with more prosperous places. The strategy involves a mixture of refurbishment, clearance and replacement, as well as some environmental works.The nine pathfinders are:
